Obviously this reminds me of the 2005 world series and the amazing White Sox team that won it! I just hated how some people that never heard this song before the world series thought that Journey wrote it just for the Sox. That would be nice but no, it's just their theme song for the world series.
A song that you know all the words to
Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand
Such a great song and this is possibly the first song I heard from Franz. At first I couldn't understand some parts of the song but now I sing it all the time and it is constantly stuck in my head.
A song that you can dance to
Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine
YES, FLORENCE! I'm so proud that she's making it big. I love the beat of this song. You slow down when the song slows down a little bit, and then bust it out hardcore when it picks back up (: goood stuff
A song that makes you fall asleep
The Blower's Daughter by Damien Rice
Honestly, I can fall asleep to any slow and chill songs, but this one has been very recent. I hate falling asleep during songs though because I hate missing them. So if I fall asleep and then wake up in a pretty short time, i'll go back in my shuffle to listen to all the songs that I missed. Other fall asleep artists are Jack Johnson and Joshua Radin, fosh.
Okay, it's not the fact that I like this song, it's purely what it reminds me of. It reminds me of dance and especially Oireachtas weekend. This was seriously mine and my dance friends song for the month of November. There was a lot of times where we would be together all the time and for some reason this song was brought up, and it just kind of stuck. But truthfully, we just wish we were as cool as Willow (:
Other songs that make me sad are Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, I Shall Believe by Sheryl Crow, and In My Life by The Beatles. Seriously, this song has to make anyone that listens to it sad. Its literally about death and how it affects each person involved. I cried the first time I heard this song, maybe because of the scene it was playing in on One Tree Hill. On that note, i'm so fricking thankful for OTH also for their music. I've been introduced to so many of my now favorite bands because of the show. This song is so truthful about death and how the silence is unberable. I've never experienced someone dying that's close to me, thankfully, but this song just shows how you want someone to just say anything that will make the silence stop.
"Somebody say something cause I can't take this silence anymore. Today is, today is, quiet in my town."
"Today I heard that someone left this Earth. That someone disappeared, left no mark here."
Day 5
A song that reminds you of someone
Move(If You Wanna) by Mims
This song makes me think about last school year and my old group of friends. Yeah, we may have been crappy to each other every now and then but we had really great times. Once my friend got her license, we would blast this song every single time we were all in the car. This was seriously our anthem for some reason. I do miss my old group of friends, but hey. They're are plenty of other weirdos that I can spend my time with.
I obviously couldn't pick just one, and I don't want this whole music challenge to consist of Mumford & Sons, no matter how hard that may be. On that note, Roll Away Your Stone by M&S also makes me extremely happy! Just saying. Anyways, I remember finding Edward and the Zeros because of their song Home, but I found this song on YouTube and fell in loveeee with it. No joke, it's great. And then I also heard it on satellite radio so that just justified the greatness. But for making me happy, I'd also like to credit Vampire Weekend, Coldplay, and The Avett Brothers. They are literally the only bands I care about anymore.
EW, New Years. Seriously the most overrated celebration in our country besides Christmas, but thats just me. Christmas is so typical and blah. At least everyone has for the most part shunned Valentine's Day, which is good. The only things we have going for us anymore are St Patricks Day, obvi, and 4th of July. Anyways, I'm not doing jack today. Because, I have no life. Actually, no it's not because I have no life. It's because my group of friends split several months ago and literally anyone I know is going to this one girl's house. We kind of, for the most part (?) settled our differences and we said so ourselves that we should try to hangout again, but that will never work. She has a 'guest limit' on her party and has to 'check with her parents.' BULL. Again, just saying. Oh well. At least i'll be with my goood ol' pals
I shlove 'em :). PS: that was at the John Mayer&Avett Brothers concert, where I died and came back to life after every single song. I also qualified for the Oireachtas that day, so thumbs up for August 14th, 2010!
I can't stand Rihanna to begin with, and all her songs just make it worse. She has the whiniest voice to ever be spoken and her songs are shit. Rihanna, you're not the only girl in the world. And no man will make you feel like the only one. What about your mommy, or his? I dont think they all of a sudden disappeared off this Earth just because you're gonna screw some guy tonight. And what makes you think it would be a good idea to sing a song asking people what your name is? And it's funny how you wanted a rude boy, when you got a rude boy in Chris Brown. Clearly, you don't like rude boys so dont ask for another one RiRi.
"Hold me like a pillow, make me feel right."
Like a pillow? So you want him to drool on you? That's logical, i'll take that.
Tomorrow is the last day of December! Fricking finally, it's been dragging on for so long. But I don't like January either. Just give me St. Patrick's Day (:
